Miyamoto Musashi (often known as "Musashi", his personal name) was a ronin, and arguably the finest samurai swordsman in history. He wrote The Book of Five Rings, a book on kenjutsu, strategy and philosophy that is still read 350 years later.
The ship Musashi's motto is "Una potens navis decem vincet", or "One powerful ship shall conquer ten". This is inspired by The Book of Five Rings. In the Ground Book, he wrote of the power of skill with his weapon of choice, the long sword [which we know as the katana]. "If he attains the virtue of the long sword, one man can beat ten men."

There has been one significant ship in real-world history named Musashi, a Japanese Yamopto-class battleship during the second world war. It was launched in November 1940, commssioned in August 1942, and sunk in the battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944.
